Canyon Creek Family Farms

We built canyoncreekfamilyfarms.com for a family farm in the Trinity Alps foothills, growing sungrown flower since 1995, and one of the farms behind poetflower.com. The site leads with the place, the family, and the awards, and the farm keeps it current from its own admin.

The website

Farm brand website and journal

Canyon Creek Family Farms

A site for people who meet Canyon Creek at a shop, on a jar, or through a collaborator, built to leave them confident in the farm behind the name.

Canyon Creek Family Farms: Farm brand website and journal

The brief

Introduce Canyon Creek to people who meet the name at a shop, on a jar, or through a collaborator, and leave them confident in the quality, without falling back on the usual farm and grower website formulas.

The tension

Canyon Creek reaches people only through licensed retail, so the site cannot close a sale. It has to do something harder: make a first-time visitor trust the flower, using only what is real — the canyon, the family, the named cultivars and collaborators, and the awards — behind a 21+ door, and without reading like every other farm site.

What we decided

Lead with the place and the people, not a product grid. A long-scroll, photograph-led site in chapters — terroir, farming practices, family, collaborations, recognition, and press — with a journal and a photo library the farm runs itself.

What we built

  • A 21+ age gate in front of the public site
  • Long-scroll chapters for terroir, farming practices, and the family
  • Collaborator and brand-partner marks, linked out
  • An awards reel for the farm’s California State Fair recognition
  • Press from Trinity Journal, The Cannabis Connection, and Inside Cultivation, with embedded video
  • A garden photo reel the farm curates from its admin
  • A journal with comments for signed-in visitors, and email sign-up

The result

An age-gated, long-scroll site led by the place, the family, and the work: terroir and farming practices, the family’s story, collaborations, State Fair recognition, and press. A journal, a garden photo reel, and email sign-up are run by the farm from its own admin.

canyoncreekfamilyfarms.com now carries the farm’s real record beside the canyon and the family behind it: Gold for sum cannabinoids in sungrown flower at the 2026 California State Fair, with Canal Street Runtz at 47%, and flower and resin behind award-winning collaborations, including Gold and Silver for solventless rosin and a 2025 Golden Bear for concentrates.

Ownership

Posts, photographs, comments, and sign-ups live in the farm’s own database and media storage and are managed from its own admin, on an independently operated server rather than a template platform.

How it runs

A Next.js application in a Docker container with PostgreSQL 16 on a DigitalOcean droplet behind Nginx and Let’s Encrypt TLS; Clerk for sign-in; DigitalOcean Spaces for images.

Technical specification

Architecture, systems, data, and how it is hosted and run.

  1. 01

    Application

Next.js 16, Tailwind CSS 4, and shadcn/ui, with a 21+ age gate in front of the public site. Visitors who say they are under 21 are sent away.

  2. 02

    Landing

Long-scroll sections for terroir, family, collaborations, recognition, and press, with carousels for the awards and the garden reel. Press video is embedded through YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player.

  3. 03

    Journal and admin

Clerk sign-in with user and admin roles. Admins publish markdown posts with cover images, curate the garden photo library, and review email sign-ups. Signed-in visitors can comment.

  4. 04

    Images and media

Cover images and garden photographs upload through the protected admin to DigitalOcean Spaces. Garden photographs are processed with Sharp: orientation corrected and WebP versions produced up to 2,400 pixels on the long edge.

  5. 05

    Data and production

PostgreSQL and Prisma for posts, comments, site images, and sign-ups. The application and a PostgreSQL 16 container with health checks and a persistent volume run under Docker Compose on a DigitalOcean droplet, behind Nginx and Let’s Encrypt TLS.

Let’s make it.

Known on the shelf but not online? We build sites that carry the work, and make the ads that bring people to them.

We build and deploy what you need so you can create and ship what you want. Then we make the ads and place them.
